The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will begin a project to reconstruct Route 309’s Tilighman Street interchange this year.
The project will have a price tag of $90-$95 million and is on top of a long list of projects that are scheduled to start this year in the Lehigh Valley. On Wednesday, PennDOT officials highlighted this and other key projects at a news conference in Frackville, Schuylkill County.
“The department anticipates investing more than $1.3 billion this year in the region’s infrastructure,” PennDOT said in a news release issued after the news conference. “There are 78 projects anticipated to start during the 2024 construction season with an estimated value of over $375 million, and 105 projects with a contract value of over $1 billion are currently active.”
