Perfect balance
Komatsu America Corp.’s D37EX-22 and D37PX-22 crawler dozers, equipped with Komatsu’s proven hydrostatic transmission (HST), are built on the successful design of the D51-22 dozer series and feature a super-slant nose coupled with a new cab-forward design that moves the operator closer to the blade while improving machine balance,
ride and stability.
Outfitted with a fuel-efficient 3.26-liter, EPA Tier III-emissions-certified Komatsu SAAD95LE-5 engine, these models push with a net horsepower of 89 at 2,200 rpm and range in operating weight from 17,394 to 19,070 lb, depending on the machine version. With 88 in. of track on the ground, both standard (EX) and low ground pressure (PX) models offer customers weight distribution and flotation options to best match their application.
The D37-22 steering system provides smooth, agile movement when dozing, even in gradual turns, permitting the operator to approach dozing objects accurately in corner grading and sidewall operations. The D37-22 dozers employ a large power-angle-tilt blade with a capacity of 2.32 to 2.55 cu yd, which results in more material staying on the blade and making it a more productive machine.

Need for speed
John Deere aims to revolutionize the speed with which contractors can work with its 764 High-Speed Dozer. The rubber-tracked unit combines the speed of a grader with the flotation of a crawler dozer, allowing operators to perform grading and moderate dozing at about double the speed of a similarly sized crawler.
The 764 HSD has the ability to travel 18 mph across a jobsite without damaging pavement. Weighing 34,000 lb, it is powered by the Tier III John Deere PowerTech Plus 6.8-liter engine rated at 200 hp.

On track
Dressta NA has introduced the TD20M Extra crawler dozer. The new series is available in three track versions: standard, long track and low ground pressure. These machines feature the fuel-efficient Tier III Cummins engine to meet lower emission requirements.
This powerful electronic-control engine has an 8.3-liter displacement. It delivers 240 net hp, an increase of 15 hp over the previous H series model. Maximum torque is now 870 lb-ft. An air grid heater comes standard to aid in cold-weather starting.
The TD20M Extra utilizes a new cooling module with replaceable sections consisting of a charge air cooler (CAC), transmission oil cooler, radiator and hydraulic oil/fan drive oil cooler.
The TD20M Extra has a hydraulically driven, suction-type, variable-speed fan located between the radiator and the front engine grill for ease of service and greatly reduced abrasion to the cooling module by eliminating sand and other debris from being picked up by the fan blades and blasted against the radiator.
Efforts have been made to eliminate or greatly reduce the need for on-board computer control and electronic systems. The TD20M Extra is a relatively easy tractor to troubleshoot and repair, and with the exception of the engine does not require a computer to diagnose problems.

All in the family
Caterpillar’s K-family of track-type tractors, the D3K, D4K and D5K, feature a larger, quieter cab and intuitive, seat-mounted controls to improve operator comfort and productivity. The machines can be shipped from the factory ready to accommodate the AccuGrade system, an exclusive Cat blade-control solution that allows fast, precise grading.
The new tractors also feature engine power increases ranging from 5% to 7% for higher productivity. The Cat C4.4 engine with Acert technology powers the D3K (74 hp), D4K (84 hp) and D5K (96 hp). The engine meets Tier III certification requirements while offering high performance, life and fuel economy.
Seat-mounted, intuitive, electro-hydraulic controls make the operator’s job easier and less fatiguing. Lever efforts are decreased by as much as 90% compared with conventional mechanical control levers. The left joystick, which controls speed and direction, incorporates a thumb wheel for on-the-go speed adjustments, plus a speed recall button that lets the operator quickly select a programmed operating speed. The right joystick controls blade movement and includes an automatic blade shake button for easy removal of excess material.

A strong case
The Case 1650L crawler dozer includes innovative features such as added power and performance, thanks to an electronic Tier III-certified engine, an electronically controlled variable-displacement, dual-path hydrostatic transmission and an eight-roller undercarriage with a hunting tooth sprocket for precise and easy grading. The 1650L delivers 144 net hp.
The new machine has a six-cylinder, 6.7-liter turbocharged Case Family IV engine with electronic fuel injection for maximum fuel efficiency. A high-pressure common-rail injection system provides excellent combustion. An air cooler adds to the fuel efficiency and reduces emissions.
