Illinois Tollway deputy chief of program implementation named Government Civil Engineer of the Year

Oct. 11, 2018—Illinois Tollway Deputy Chief of Program Implementation Clarita Lao was selected for the 2018 Government Civil Engineer of the Year Award by the Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Lao will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Chicago. Each year, ASCE Illinois recognizes outstanding civil engineers and civil engineering projects throughout northern Illinois. The complete list of 2018 award recipients is posted on the ASCE Illinois website, isasce.org. This Government Civil Engineer of the Year Award recognizes professional accomplishments and unique contributions to the civil engineering profession or community. The award is presented annually to a professional engineer who has sustained outstanding engineering achievement in the public sector and has served to advance the civil engineering profession, improving the conditions under which engineers serve in public practice and contributing to both professional organizations and community services.

CASE Construction Equipment announces 2018 “Diamond Dealer” and “Gold Dealer” award winners

Oct. 4, 2018—CASE Construction Equipment has named its 2018 “Diamond Dealer” and “Gold Dealer” award recipients as a part of its North American Construction Equipment Partnership Program. The awards recognize dealerships across the U.S. and Canada for excellence in five categories including sales performance, marketing and communications, product support, parts support, and training. The 2018 Diamond Dealer award winners are: ASCO (Texas), Crawler Supply (La.), Groff Tractor (Pa., Md., N.J.), HiTrac (Winnipeg, Manitoba), J.R. Brisson (Ontario, Quebec), Kucera Farm Supply (Ontario), Longus Equipment Inc. CEMEX USA driver wins NRMCA National Mixer Driver Championship

Oct. 4, 2018—CEMEX announced today for the first time ever, one of its ready-mix truck drivers earned top industry honors winning the 2018 National Ready-Mixed Concrete Association’s (NRMCA) National Mixer Driver Championship last weekend in National Harbor, Md. Thomas Comeau, a CEMEX mixer truck driver from Tucson, Ariz., was awarded first place after competing against more than 80 drivers from across the U.S. during the championship at NRMCA’s Concrete Works event. Drivers were judged on vehicle-handling skills, vehicle-inspection abilities and grades on written exams. Comeau came to CEMEX from the Pima County, Ariz., Sheriff’s Office in 2014 after deciding to make a career change. Upon joining CEMEX, Comeau committed himself to the company’s safety program, helping other drivers whenever possible. Comeau has won the title of best driver in Arizona for the last three years, allowing him to compete in the NRMCA Nationals.

Jason Mayfield joins WSP transportation facilities team in St. Louis

Oct. 3, 2018—Jason Mayfield has been named to a lead architect position working on transportation facilities in the St. Louis office of WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy. In his new position, Mayfield will be responsible for working on numerous projects with WSP’s transportation facilities group, including the Texas Bullet Train, where WSP is providing engineering support for the high-speed rail line between Houston and Dallas. He was previously with the firm from 2000-2004 as a project architect and most recently with Ross & Baruzzini as senior architect.
