Genie Lift Pro training now includes supervisor training course that meets ANSI requirements

March 18, 2019—The new ANSI A92.22 standards for safe use and ANSI A92.24 standards for training carry with them some major changes and substantial additional requirements for training, with new requirements for supervisor training. To help jobsites be in compliance when the new standards go into effect in December 2019, the Genie Lift Pro Online MEWP Supervisor Training Course is now available. This course was developed specifically for supervisors and meets all of the requirements set forth in the new standards. The Genie Lift Pro online MEWP supervisor training course covers MEWP classifications, features and applications to assist with the proper selection of the correct MEWP for the work to be performed; the responsibilities of all parties involved with the operation of MEWPS; the rules, regulations and standards that apply to MEWPs, including the provisions for safe use as defined in ANSI A92.22, training and familiarization, and the work being performed; potential hazards associated with the use of MEWPs and the means to protect against, eliminate or mitigate identified hazards; and the requirement for operators to read and understand the appropriate operator’s manual prior to using a MEWP and knowledge that the manual must be properly stored in the weather-resistant compartment on the platform when not in use by the operator.

Clark, focuses on community/regional planning, development, environmental and transportation consulting services. Current clients include more than 150 municipalities and private sector companies throughout the New York/Connecticut metropolitan area and beyond. Specialties include traffic planning and operations studies; traffic impact analyses; and public transportation planning and land use. The firm will become Frederick P. Clark Associates, a Hardesty & Hanover company.

Terex Advance hold annual service school to support customers

March 2019—Terex Advance held their annual service school on Feb. 25-26 in Fort Wayne, Ind., as part of their continuous efforts to support their customers throughout the U.S. More than 100 technicians from across the country gathered at the Grand Wayne Center to hear Terex Advance production and engineering professionals, service providers, and vendors discuss new offerings, troubleshooting, and diagnostic repairs for their concrete trucks. For over 40 years, Terex Advance has been an industry leader in the development and manufacture of a complete line of versatile and specialized concrete mixer trucks for the construction market. This class was to continue training the industry professionals in properly diagnosing and repairing these trucks in a timelier and efficient fashion so they can get them back on the road and maximize uptime.

Husqvarna opens new distribution center in Lenexa, Kan.

March 2019—Husqvarna Construction Products, headquartered in Olathe, Kan., has expanded with a brand new 150,000 sq ft distribution center. The center, located in Lenexa, Kan., is only a mile away from the company's present headquarters and central warehouse. In order to keep its manufacturing and shipping functions performing at their best, Husqvarna opened the new distribution center to provide timely management of order processing and product shipping, The new distribution center now houses all of the company's finished goods, which will allow for an increase in manufacturing capabilities at its current location, while ensuring customer orders get out the door as quickly as possible. The center increases receiving and shipping capabilities three times over Husqvarna's present location. The size and layout of the new facility also enables the ability to process up to five times the amount of inbound inventory every day. The increased capacity has resulted in at least 16 new positions.

Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute elects new chairman and board members

March 12, 2019—The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute has elected Keith Wallis Jr. as its 2019 Chairman. Wallis is general manager of Prestressed Casting Co. in Springfield, Mo. Two other officers were elected for terms in 2019. John Seroky, of High Concrete Group, was elected vice chairman, and Dennis Fink, of Northeast Prestressed Products, was elected secretary-treasurer. PCI members also elected the following as new members of their board of directors: Matt Ballain, Coreslab Structures; Jenny Frost, Wells Concrete; Harry Gleich, Metromont Corp.; Matt Graf, International Concrete Products; Chris Mosley, The Consulting Engineers Group; Bob Pabst, High Concrete Group; Jay Stracener, Precast Erectors; and Randy Wilson, Meridian Brick. All officers and board members started their 2019 terms at the PCI Convention, held in Louisville, Ky., Feb. 26-March 2, 2019.
