Volvo CE machines win EquipmentWatch’s Highest Retained Value and Lowest Cost of Ownership awards
March 7, 2019—The leading data researcher for the construction equipment industry EquipmentWatch has selected two Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) machines for its 2019 Lowest Cost of Ownership awards and one Volvo CE wheel loader model for the 2019 Highest Retained Value awards. The prizes underscore Volvo CE’s commitment to providing the highest uptime in the industry and the best value at every stage of a machine’s lifecycle. It is the fourth straight year that EquipmentWatch recognized Volvo CE with awards. The EC700 series crawler excavator and the L180 wheel loader both received a Lowest Cost of Ownership award while the L20 wheel loader was given a Highest Retained Value award.
LAN promotes Bob Austin, P.E., to vice president
March 6, 2019—Planning, engineering and program management firm Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) has promoted Bob Austin, P.E., to vice president. Austin has 36 years of experience managing and designing transportation projects. During this time, he has performed feasibility studies, preliminary engineering, and plans, specifications and estimates (PS&E) for new toll roads, interstate and rural highways, interchanges, farm-to-market roads, urban arterials, and railroad and river bridges. He joined LAN in 2013 as a senior project manager and was subsequently promoted to transportation team leader. Previously, he served the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) as its planning and development director for the Laredo District. He managed the development of the district’s three-year transportation improvement plan and handled funding agreements with cities, counties and developers. He also authored the latest TxDOT preliminary design process manual and taught several courses at the agency.
Hyundai Construction Equipment adds Earthmovers Construction Equipment to growing North American distribution network
March 2019—Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas announces the expansion of its North American authorized dealer network with the addition of Earthmovers Construction Equipment. Earthmovers was founded in 2013 and has recently become a part of the NED Group of companies (National Equipment Dealers). Originally based in Stuart, Fla., Earthmovers has grown significantly by adding a new branch in Ft. Pierce and a second location outside of Orlando. Both facilities provide equipment sales and rentals, fully stocked parts departments, and factory-trained service personnel in the shop and on the road. With the addition of this new dealership, Hyundai’s North American network now includes over 70 dealerships operating in just over 150 locations, offering sales, service, and parts for the full line of Hyundai excavators, wheel loaders, compaction rollers, and other construction equipment.
