Money marked for economic recovery helped the city of Dubuque through a rediscovery. Jackson
Street was mostly vacant until city of?cials decided to dress it up and make it more complete. The project reused the old paving brick in accent areas and in the center of Jackson Street. Catenary lights were used to mimic early 20th century lighting in the district. The parking lanes in many areas were paved with pervious brick pavers to allow for storm-water in?ltration.
