Set to replace an existing 1923 reinforced concrete bridge with a new precast, prestressed concrete I-girder, the need for this project arose from the existing bridge being rated as structurally deficient with a scour critical foundation. Completed in a single construction season, the bridge serves as a significant commute route between Lake County to the north and Napa and Sonoma counties to the south. The Valley Fire of September 2015 in Lake County threatened the project site as it came within a few miles north of it, closing Rte. 29 for nearly two weeks and restricting access to the jobsite for one week.
Location: Napa County, Calif.
Cost: $4.6 million
Length: 0.2 miles (whole project);
0.011 miles (bridge)
