Oct. 1, 2017

This conflation of three major routes deals with traffic influxes in excess of 250,000 vehicles each day and has one of the highest accident rates in the state. This phase of the project is replacing an existing bridge; constructing a new 500-ft-wide bridge; a series of on- and off-ramps; and creating 11 lane-miles of new roadway. Crews must perform this work with zero reduction in existing roadway capacity. A comprehensive safety program has been put in place, resulting in more than 348,000 man-hours without a single lost time safety incident. Conti was awarded the 2016 Liberty Mutual Gold Safety Award as a result.
