PennDOT Replacing Century Old Bridge

Construction is expected to begin June 3

Construction to replace a 102-year-old bridge carrying Route 62 over Fox Run in Mercer County, Penn. is expected to begin June 3.

The project will replace the structure with a new concrete bridge. It will include minor paving on the road leading up to the bridge, updating guardrails, delineators, and pavement markings.

Work will be completed by contractor Shingledecker’s Welding Inc.

A detour provided on Interstate 79 and Route 358 is expec6ted to run until October.

The project has a price tag of $764,000. Funding for the project comes in part from the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

The IIJA has brought $25 million in 2024 to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and its Metropolitan and Rural Planning Organization partners for the state’s northwest region.

Construction is expected to last until November 2024.
