Crews will be working on a new viaduct

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that construction on the Interstate 95 bridge will close a section of Tacony Street. Crews will be working on the new southbound I-95 viaduct at Tacony Street.

The construction is a crucial component of the I-95/BS2 project which will reconstruct the interstate in both directions from Margaret Street to Carver Street.

The improvements are expected to enhance the flow and safety of traffic along this corridor.

The closure will be active from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Sept. 30 through Oct. 9. Tacony Street will be closed and detoured between Aramigo Avenue and Bridge Street.

Motorists are advised to anticipate delays and are encouraged to plan extra travel time when navigating these areas. All construction is weather dependent, and adjustments may occur based on conditions.

The $270 million project is expected to be completed in 2027.
