World of Concrete 2025: Tech Takes Center Stage

How innovation has impacted the industry will be on display in Las Vegas

World of Concrete (WOC) returns to the Las Vegas Convention Center this week, and this year’s convention will focus on the technology that is  revolutionizing the industry.

Many of the exhibiting companies plan to share past results and future endeavors that demonstrate new and unique technological implementations of best practices in the industry, their company and their community.

“Coming off our 50th anniversary, the World of Concrete 2025 edition is expected to feature several differentiating elements compared to previous editions,” said Steven Pomerantz, the show’s senior marketing manager. “The show will feature a greater emphasis on new technologies in concrete and masonry construction, including advancements in materials, automation and digital tools.”

With more than 1,400 exhibitors and 600,000 square feet, the 51st annual show is set to be larger and more educational through its 180 educational sessions, 40% of which are brand new this year.

Attendees will find sessions like “Modern Concrete Technology: Design, Materials, and Durability” and “Meeting and Exceeding Sustainability Targets Using Admixtures,” offering actionable strategies for greener construction.

The WOC also will feature new areas on the show floor this year, according to Pomerantz.

“This year’s show offers new exhibitors focused on 3D printing, drones or artificial intelligence along with educational offerings geared to these topics. We will also host a 3D printing luncheon that will focus on the challenges contractors face as they bring this type of application to the field. A panel of experts will discuss the challenges and attempt to create a consensus on how the industry should merge its efforts to advance 3D construction printing,” he said.

Among the standout technology giants at the event, Trimble is set to take the spotlight with its technology solutions tailored for concrete contractors.

“World of Concrete is a fantastic opportunity for Trimble to showcase how our solutions enhance productivity and collaboration across every stage of a project,” said Kevin Garcia, general manager of civil specialty construction at Trimble.

At booth N1337, Trimble will present its latest innovations, designed to streamline workflows, foster collaboration and provide accurate reality capture capabilities.

One highlight is the Trimble Reality Capture Platform Service, a game-changer for contractors seeking to simplify fieldwork.

“The value is all about time savings,” said Joe Blecha, director of product marketing. “Less time manually capturing data in the field means fewer site visits while capturing exponentially more data. It’s a win for efficiency and accuracy.”

At the booth, attendees will also see demonstrations of the Trimble X9 3D Laser Scanning System, Trimble MX60 Mobile Mapping System, Trimble Earthworks Grade Control Platform, Trimble Paving Control System 900 and Trimble WorksManager Design Management Software.

“Reality capture is a hot topic this year,” Garcia said. “We’re excited to show how these tools make advanced technologies accessible to more professionals, enabling them to work smarter, not harder.”

The Wirtgen Group, another big player in the construction technology space, is set to make the world debut of its Slipform Paver SP 33 at booth C5327 in the Central Hall. Paired with innovations from John Deere, the joint display highlights “precision, efficiency, and sustainability as the future of concrete paving,” according to the company.

The SP 33 can tackle projects ranging from curbs and drainage profiles to concrete slabs up to 10 feet wide. Its standout feature, AutoPilot 2.0, eliminates the need for traditional stringline setups, using advanced GNSS signals and local sensors for precise height and steering control.

The WOC 2025 promises to be more than an exhibition of new products. It’s a platform for addressing critical industry challenges, including sustainability, workforce development and resilience. Pomerantz emphasized the show’s dedication to tackling these issues head-on.

“We’re committed to eco-friendly practices, carbon-reducing technologies, and innovative materials,” Pomerantz said. “This year’s sustainability lounge, educational sessions and exhibitor initiatives reflect our broader mission to improve the industry’s environmental and social impact.”

Attendees will find sessions like “Meeting and Exceeding Sustainability Targets Using Admixtures” and “Modern Concrete Technology: Design, Materials, and Durability,” offering actionable strategies for greener construction.

With CONEXPO still two years away, WOC is an essential meeting ground for industry professionals.

“The speed at which technology evolves makes regular conversations like these critical,” Garcia said. “This show’s concrete and masonry focus ensures attendees see tools and solutions tailored to their needs.”

“WOC allows us to listen and learn from contractors about how reality capture and point cloud data can make their jobs easier and more profitable,” said Blecha.

Don’t forget to study the layout of the exhibits before you get to the convention. There is a lot to see, as usual. In the Central Hall, you’ll find exhibits like the World of Masonry. In the North Hall, you can get educated on construction technology, cement production and precast. In the South Hall, you can check out the concrete repair, decorative and demolition equipment.

When you’re tired of being indoors, the Silver and Bronze Lots will have fantastic outdoor exhibits and events as well. You can watch live demos, heavy equipment, and skill challenges and championships. There is so much to do during WOC, you may not be able to see it all.

The Roads & Bridges team will once again be at WOC, located in the Central Hall. Be sure to visit us at booth C4636 to say hello! RB
