Doosan-owned Bobcat launched a new series of compact excavators at ConExpo-Con/Agg. The R Series excavators are dynamic additions to the 3-4 ton class, and are highlighted by the E32 and E35 models.
Both models feature a 25 hp engine, while the E35 can be optioned up to 33.5 hp. Operator comfort was a primary concern in the design of the line, and the R Series features the same seat as is found on a wheel loader, an expanded cab and door, and 28% more floor space. Thinner pillars add visibility and increased safety.
The angle blade has an additional 12 degrees of downward positioning, increasing range of motion by 33%. An auto HVAC system is optional and both models feature a dual-flange track roller system, which can aid the operator in ride stabilization and augment dig and smoothness accuracy, and increases lift-over-side capacity by up to 15%.
Across the pad at the Doosan footprint in the sunny outdoors Gold Lot, the company’s heavy equipment division launched the DL420-5 wheel loader, which will roll off the production line in the fall of 2017. With an operating weight of just over 50,000 lb and a breakout force of more than 47,000 lbf, the new model was designed for power and adaptability.
Doosan Infracore sales and marketing development manager Aaron Kleingartner said, “The big development for this model is the CVT combination hydrostatic and mechanical transmission. The engine will automatically switch from hydrostatic to mechanical based on load and task orientation, which boosts efficiency and helps the owner/operator realize a 5-15% fuel savings.”
The DL420-5 can handle buckets sizes up to 5.5 cu yd and features a 3-year telematics package standard.
