The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has announced road and bridge projects across the North Start State that aims to improve safety and mobility while supporting jobs. The projects include 171 road and bridge projects along with 52 projects that will improve airports, water ports, railroad crossings and transit infrastructure.
"After a long winter with record-setting snowfalls, MnDOT joins many Minnesotans in welcoming the arrival of spring," said Commissioner Nancy Daubenberger. "Warmer weather also means drivers can expect to see more orange cones and work zones around the state, as well as more people working on and around highway projects. MnDOT has a robust construction program planned this year, and we need motorists' help to keep everyone safe: obey speed limits and slow down in work zones, put away cell phones and other distractions, be patient, and plan ahead for detours."
Some of the projects include:
- Highway 52 Improvement - This multi-year project includes resurfacing, repairing and updating bridges, and installing cable median barrier.
- Highway 10 Project - This project includes replacing and repairing bridges to improve traffic flow, safety and provide better pedestrian and bicycle access.
- Twin Ports Interchange Project - This project in Duluth plans to enhance safety by eliminating blind merges and left exits, replacing aging infrastructure and improving freight mobility.
- I-35 Project - This two year project will resurface 4.6 miles of the interstate and make other improvements.
