A new compact excavator, the KX71-3, was recently introduced by Kubota Tractor Corp., Torrance, Calif. The KX71-3 (Circle 910) is powered by Kubota’s V1505 four-cylinder engine rated at one of the highest levels of power in its class, boasting 27.5 hp at 2,300 rpm. The excavator’s long arm provides the operator with a digging depth of 9 ft 9 in. The arm and bucket generates 3,285 lb and 6,350 lb breakout force that produces outstanding operational performance. The overall width of the KX71-3 has been kept under 5 ft, allowing it to fit through tight openings. Its operating width is 6,305 lb with machine and track-shoe widths being 5 ft 1 in. and 12 in., respectively, giving it low ground pressure and greater stability. The tail swing overhang is only 18 in., allowing the excavator to avoid obstacles, resulting in greater opportunities to more jobsites. The KX71-3 is equipped with a new LCD panel—Kubota’s new Intelligent Control System (KICS)—displaying easy-to-understand diagnostic readings on the digital panel.
