The new Smolen-Gulf Bridge, the longest wooden covered bridge in the U.S., spans 613 feet across the Ashtabula River in Ohio. It took its place in history with help from ALL Erection & Crane Rental of Cleveland, Ohio. Experts from ALL, plus a 300-ton Manitowoc 2250 lattice boom crawler, a 300-ton Terex Demag AC 250-1 telescopic all-terrain crane, and a 500-ton Liebherr LTM 1400-7 all-terrain crane, placed the bridge’s four 325,000-pound spans. With the Terex above and the Manitowoc in the valley, the two end sections were picked from special launch frames atop each bank.

With the Terex above and the Manitowoc in the valley, the two end sections were picked from special launch frames atop each bank. Then the Manitowoc and Liebherr lifted the middle sections from the valley. ALL’s Compu-Crane lift simulation software helped visualize the engineer-designed lift plan, the final layout, and setup. There’s no job too tough for the ALL Family of Companies, North America’s crane rental leader, offering unmatched experience and the largest, most technologically advanced fleet.
