Fuel-saving focus
John Deere’s 310SK features a standard five-speed transmission that allows road speeds up to 25 mph. The 96-hp model includes fuel-saving features such as auto idle, auto shutdown and economy mode. In addition, the 310SK boasts a new single-lever loader control with integrated electrohydraulic, proportional auxiliary control and comes standard with JDLink and Service Advisor Remote. To enhance productivity, the backhoe’s transmission has an AutoShift option, a more efficient HVAC system, a sealed-switch module with keyless start and machine-security system and a redesigned, easier-to-clean cooling package.
N Series gets an upgrade
Case Construction Equipment has added upgrades to its N Series loader-backhoe product line. These include the application of cooled exhaust-gas recirculation (CEGR) emissions-control technology to achieve Tier IV interim certification. The Case 580N, 580 Super N, 580 Super N Wide Track and 590 Super N loader backhoes now feature 3.4-liter turbocharged engines, ranging from 78 hp in the 580N to 108 hp in the 590SN. The Tier IV interim-certified engine—with CEGR technology—burns cleaner while delivering superior horsepower, faster response and a minimum of 5% better fuel efficiency under load.
Powerful production
Powered by an electronic Tier IV interim Perkins 1204E-E44TA engine, the 94-hp Terex TLB840 loader backhoe is now available in North America. The backhoe is engineered for digging, reaching, lifting and loading applications. With a loading height of 11 ft 3 in., the Tier IVi Terex TLB840 can load high-sided trucks, and with a 10,485 lb/ft bucket breakout force, a loader lift capacity of 7,291 lb/ft and bucket capacity of 1.32 cu yd, this loader backhoe offers high-capacity production. The curved boom design on the TLB840 offers operators greater clearance to reach over obstacles and the ability to load closer into trucks for greater productivity.
Better buckets
The Hyundai H930C backhoe is powered by an 87-hp Tier IV Perkins 1104C-44T engine, which combines new combustion technology with internal exhaust-gas recirculation, long oil change and an air grid heater as a cold-start aid. Small trenching projects, site preparation and road and utility work are all viable applications for the H930C. It boasts a loader bucket capacity of 28.3 cu ft, a trenching bucket capacity of 6 cu ft and a backhoe dig depth of 14 ft 3 in. Standard cab features include a tilting, adjustable steering column, hinged side windows for improved ventilation and a suspension seat with full adjustment for improved operator ride.
More power, fewer problems
The Cat 450F Backhoe Loader Center Pivot is the successor to Cat’s 450E. Powered by a Cat C4.4 Acert engine meeting Tier IV interim emission standards, the 450F is available with a hydraulic thumb, pin-puller-type coupler and a range of compatible work tools, including buckets with integral forks, hammers and plate compactors. In addition, the new 450F has 5% more gross power than the 450E, meaning it has increased capability for aggressively digging in stubborn banks and stockpiles, maintaining faster road speeds and climbing grades.
