Trimble and Doosan Infracore North America LLC recently announced that Doosan will offer the Trimble Earthworks Grade Control Platform for Excavators as an optional factory-installed machine control solution for the North American market.
Trimble Earthworks is a grade control solution designed to make grading more accurate, faster and easier in a range of applications, including residential and commercial sites, trenches, embankments, ditches and finished slope work, Doosan says.
Doosan will offer a 2-D machine control factory-installed option that includes a 10-in. Android tablet display running the Trimble Earthworks software application. This option includes rugged Trimble hardware, designed and tested for the harsh conditions found on construction sites.
“We’re excited to partner with Trimble because it will help expand our Doosan excavator technology offerings and boost our customers’ productivity,” Jaeuk Kim, Doosan director of product management, said in a statement. “Doosan crawler excavator customers can enhance their trenching accuracy with the increased technology, contributing to an improved ROI. And our dealers can now offer this directly from the factory to our customers.”
NRMCA recognizes LafargeHolcim for safety at concrete plants
LafargeHolcim in the U.S. recently announced that 83 of its ready-mixed concrete plants across the country received Excellence in Safety Awards from the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s (NRMCA) Think First Safety Contest.
Seventy-five plants out of the 83 earned the highest, gold-level awards.
“Striving daily to operate with zero incidents to our employees, contractors, customers, and communities, health and safety is at the center of everything we do,” Jay M. Moreau, CEO of US ACM, LafargeHolcim, said in a statement. “We’re honored to receive these awards from NRMCA and thank the more than 1,500 employees across our US concrete plants who work tirelessly to maintain the highest standards of safety at our sites.”
To determine winners, NRMCA’s Safety Task Group bases the winning facilities off of the latest OSHA/Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Incident Rate available for the ready mixed concrete industry. Only those plants with an incident rate below the national average receive awards.
LafargeHolcim also recently announced the appointment of Toufic Tabbara as CEO of U.S. Cement operations. Tabbara brings more than 20 years’ experience in the construction materials industry around the world that will help lead the organization through the next phase of growth, the company says.
