Georgia DOT Awards Funding for Transportation Projects

Over $36 million will go to rehabilitation, resurfacing, safety and bridge construction

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) awarded a total of 23 construction contracts for transportation projects in September. The contracts are for projects including rehabilitation, resurfacing, safety and bridge construction. 

Out of the 23 investments, Dougherty County received the largest investment. Funding of $33 million will be allocated to the construction of a bridge on Oglethorpe Boulevard. 

Approximately $76.9 million of the awarded contracts is for 13 resurfacing projects. Clayton, Fulton and Henry counties will have the largest resurfacing projects. 

Two rehabilitation projects were awarded funding totaling $11.9 million. One of the projects is 6.6 miles of concrete rehabilitation on Interstate 20 west in Greene County. It has an estimated value of $7.2 million. 

Safety projects were allocated approximately $4.7 million. The largest of the safety projects has a price tag of $3.3 million and includes intersection improvements across multiple locations in Decatur, Dougherty and Thomas counties. 

Approximately $1.4 million was allocated to bridge rehabilitation projects in Bartow and Cherokee counties. 

The awards bring the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2025 to $449 million.
