Conduit used along roads, bridges and tunnels must be able to handle extreme/fluctuating temperatures. Metal will expand and contract as the ambient temperature cycles according to the laws of thermal expansion. This is important to consider when installing long runs of conduit in harsh environment applications.
Rugged expansion/deflection fittings and joints designed for roads, bridges and tunnels make conduit installation easy.
Enabling the coupling of two sections of conduit, Calbond® and Calbrite® . expansion/deflection fittings and joints are ideal for bridge and tunnel applications with long conduit runs because they manage movement, expansion, contraction, deflection and angular / parallel misalignment. With one of the largest conduit and conduit accessory offerings in the industry, Calbond and Calbrite products combine heavy-duty construction with design flexibility to reduce total cost of ownership.
Designed for use with PVC coated rigid conduit, Calbond Expansion/Deflection Fittings and Joints provide excellent resistance to damage and corrosion. Expansion/deflection fittings from Calbond feature an external PVC coating and internal urethane coating to provide superior corrosion protection and withstand the elements.
The Calbond XD Expansion/Deflection Fitting accommodates axial expansion, angular misalignment and parallel misalignment in any direction up to 30 degrees. The UL 514B approved fittings feature an internal bonding jumper.
Calbond XJG and Calbond XJGD expansion joints also feature an internal bonding jumper and facilitate horizontal movement of the conduit system of up to 4″. Electrical continuity is maintained across assembled joints. Calbond XJG expansion joints meet UL 514B and CSA C22.2 No. 18 standards, while the XJGD expansion joints meet the UL 514B standard.
Calbrite Expansion/Deflection Fittings are UL verified and have a compact, one-piece design. Manufactured in type 316 stainless steel for increased corrosion resistance and longer life operation, the Calbrite Expansion/Deflection Fittings have an angular misalignment verified to 90 degrees, allowing the fitting to be used as an elbow anywhere from 30 to 90 degrees. The fitting has an offset deflection verified for a total distance of 1.5 inches.
On your next bridge and tunnel job, simplify your installation with the industry leaders in corrosion resistant conduit - Calbond & Calbrite.
