Obama, Biden also supported "Bridge to Nowhere"

When it comes to the “Bridge to Nowhere,” Sen. Barack Obama and Joe Biden erected the same support as Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

According to a CNN report, the presidential Democratic duo voted to kill a Senate amendment that would have diverted federal funding for the bridge to repair a Louisiana span severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Of course, they were not alone, as 80 other senators voted in favor of the measure.

Biden has publicly mocked Palin and her claims that she did not support the “Bridge to Nowhere,” despite records showing that she did.

Biden also is linked to another controversial span in his home state of Delaware. The Indian River Inlet Bridge connects the beach towns of Dewey and Bethany. Replacing the bridge would benefit 30,000 summer tourists, who would have to travel an additional 35 minutes to get to towns. However, the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Chamber of Commerce does not view the replacement as crucial. Biden still asked for $13 million to help shore up the existing bridge and begin new construction.

“This bridge is not in any danger of collapse, and essentially what Sen. Biden is doing is saying, ‘My state bridge gets the priority dollar even though it is not a priority project,” Bill Allison of the Sunlight Foundation, a taxpayer watchdog group, told CNN.
