6,000th ARRA job announced

The U.S. DOT announced the 6,000th project funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act on Monday.

The $44.5 million project to widen congested U.S. 60 in Phoenix became the ARRA milestone. According to the U.S. DOT, U.S. 60 is one of Phoenix’s most congested corridors, serving about 45,000 vehicles a day. Stimulus funds will produce two additional lanes of traffic and other significant improvements.

“Most importantly, the project will generate good-paying transportation jobs,” said U.S. DOT Secretary Ray LaHood.
