Gerald Shaheen, group president, Caterpillar Inc., Peoria, Ill., and Brenton Cook, central region president, Aggregate Industries, Kalamazoo, Mich., have been selected as co-chairs to lead the planning effort for ConExpo-Con/Agg 2005, which will be held March 15-19, 2005 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
ConExpo-Con/Agg is planned by a Joint Managing Board comprised of 24 executives from the construction, aggregates and ready-mixed concrete industries and key members of ConExpo-Con/Agg Show Management Services. The event's co-chairs assume a leadership role on the ConExpo-Con/Agg Joint Managing Board, guiding the effort to provide the most comprehensive industry event possible for both exhibitors and attendees.
As group president, Shaheen has responsibility for design, development and production of Caterpillar's mining, forest and construction equipment. His responsibilities also include marketing and sales operations in North America, the articulated trucks, as well as diversified products, which include Caterpillar's paving products division. He joined Caterpillar in 1967, became vice president in 1995 and took his current position in 1998. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Association of Equipment Manufacturers and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Before becoming central region president of Aggregate Industries Inc., Cook was executive vice president and treasurer of Bill Smith Sand and Gravel. He served as chairman of the National Aggregates Association (NAA, now the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association--NSSGA) in 1998. He was first elected to the NAA Board of Directors in 1977 and has since been a member and chair of a variety of NAA and NSSGA committees.
