Hanson Professional Services Inc. will receive an Exceptional Consulting and Engineering Service Award for Highway Structure Projects, Phase II, from the Illinois Department of Transportation. Hanson is receiving the award for its design of the removal and replacement of the I-55 Lake Springfield bridges in Springfield, Ill.

During the I-55 project, Hanson provided structural, transportation and geotechnical design and engineering services. The project involved replacing two existing bridges carrying I-55 over Lake Springfield with a new 720-ft-long bridge. The new span accommodates six lanes of traffic. Hanson received good and excellent ratings from IDOT's District 6--the district in which the project was completed.
