P. Flanigan & Sons Inc. received the Diamond Achievement Commendation (DAC) for their Monroe Street Plant from the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA). The DAC recognizes companies with responsible hot-mix asphalt (HMA) operation practices and effective community relations.
“The Diamond Achievement Commendation is an honor in which a company and a community can take great pride,” said NAPA Chairman James E. Weeks. “It clearly demonstrates a corporate commitment to excellence with a community focus.”
Developed as a self-assessment process in 1999, the DAC assessed P. Flanigan & Sons on six essential facets of the HMA plant/site: appearance, operations, environmental practices, permitting and regulatory compliance, safety and community relations. The DAC exemplifies the company’s commitment to excellence and continuous improvement of HMA facilities.
“We are honored to receive this commendation. As a company we work hard to not only maintain the facility and stay at the forefront of best practices in the infrastructure industry, but also to support the community in the neighborhoods where we work,” said Pierce Flanigan IV, company president.
Most recently, P. Flanigan & Sons resurfaced the play area at Baltimore city public school, Federal Hill Preparatory, at no cost. Other pro bono work includes the asphalt track at Turner Station Field, a parking lot at William S. Baer School, the Maryland Zoo and the Fire Museum.
