Professional vegetation managers across the country can submit vegetation projects for the fourth annual Quality Vegetation Management™ (QVM) Project Habitat™ awards, sponsored by BASF Professional Vegetation Management. This awards program spotlights vegetation management projects that make positive environmental changes—whether it is protecting endangered species, fighting invasive weeds, supporting industry research and development, or simply improving habitat for native plants and animals.

The QVM Project Habitat awards give land managers, owners, QVM-certified applicators and forestry advisors national recognition for their dedication to quality vegetation management. Winners have the opportunity to work with BASF on promotional opportunities including: local publicity, written success stories, trade media articles and QVM plot signage to promote their good work.

Award entries are due on or before Sept. 25, 2009, and land managers, owners and QVM-certified applicators should begin thinking about new or existing programs and plots that demonstrate the principals and practices of QVM in action.

By involving a herbicide applicator in the discussion early on, participants can determine the project that best exemplifies quality vegetation management in action. Projects must fit into one of the designated categories, including Utility, Forestry, Aquatic, Roadside, Invasive Weed Management and Specialty Vegetation Management. For more information on each category, visit www.vmanswers.com/projecthabitat.

Projects primarily developed or managed in 2009 are eligible, although ongoing projects are also acceptable. All chemical applications require participation by a QVM Certified Applicator or can be applied by the landowner or land manager. There is no cost to enter and multiple projects from one organization are allowed, but each project should be featured in its own entry. Please see the official call for entries for rules on submissions and formats. To find a QVM-certified applicator in your area, contact your local BASF sales specialist or visit www.vmanswers.com.

Professionals interested in developing award-winning programs and showcasing them in front of their peers have the opportunity to sign up to receive tips on how to develop an entry. Go to www.vmanswers.com/projecthabitat to sign up and take your project to the next level.
