Vollmer Associates has been selected by Blitz on Banksville Beautification (BBB), a local non-profit organization, to assist in the creation of the master site plan for the Banksville Road Corridor.
Funded by grants from the Community Design Center of Pittsburgh and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the plan will address a 21?2-mile stretch of State Route 19, or Banksville Road, which links the City of Pittsburgh and southern communities and accommodates approximately 40,000 commuters daily.
The planning process, including inventory and analysis of the corridor, public input sessions, agency coordination and design recommendations and initiatives, is designed to provide the BBB with a clear roadmap for implementation of the identified needs of the Banksville Road Corridor.
Vollmer Associates will prepare the master plan to serve as a tool for securing public and private partnerships to benefit the corridor, identifying and prioritizing specific initiatives and fundraising efforts. The project will seek to address issues of safety, accessibility, traffic, aesthetics and environmental quality and sustainability.
