Caltrans awards I-580 contract to CC Myers

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has awarded the contract to reconstruct the I-580 upper connector deck to Rancho Cordova construction firm CC Myers Inc.

"Caltrans promised the public a swift response to the MacArthur Maze collapse, and we are delivering," said Caltrans Director Will Kempton.

Based on the seven bids received, Caltrans awarded the contract to the lowest bidder, CC Myers, in the amount of $867,075. The project will reconstruct the eastbound I-80 to eastbound I-580 connector ramp that collapsed on Sunday, April 29, 2007.

CC Myers is the contractor that successfully completed the reconstruction of the I-10 following the 1994 Northridge earthquake in Los Angeles.

Contract bids were opened at 10 a.m. Monday, May 7, and the contract was awarded at 3:30 p.m. Work on the structure will begin May 8, and the target date for completion is June 27, as identified in the contract.
