The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) has entered into a formal partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor. This historic partnership is the product of the department¹s new Partnerships for Compliance Assistance Program (PCAP) and the first to address the construction industry. Through this partnership, the parties hope to increase the awareness and use of the department¹s many new compliance assistance tools.

"AGC has had a strong relationship and good communication with the U.S. Department of Labor for quite a long time, and we welcome the opportunity to formalize that relationship," said AGC¹s Chief Executive Officer Stephen E. Sandherr. "When the department approached us, we quickly agreed to join it in a positive effort to increase our members¹ knowledge and understanding of the many federal laws and regulations that apply to their jobsites," he added.

The partnership will enable the Labor Department to reach the broad mainstream of the construction industry, taking full advantage of AGC¹s credibility, reputation, website, information technology and publications. In the agreement, AGC promises to publicize the department¹s compliance assistance tools and to continue inviting department representatives to participate in AGC conferences, seminars and other events.

"Many of AGC¹s members are too small to afford a full-time human resource professional," said Sandherr. "AGC applauds the PCAP program and looks forward to working with the department to increase the compliance assistance that the association can provide to these firms."
