LYCON Inc., Janesville, Wis., a provider of high-quality concrete and aggregate products, recently announced the completion of its integration of the ready-mix concrete, mortar and contractor supply divisions of M&M Concrete. LYCON purchased the divisions from Michels Corp., Brownsville, Wis.

The acquisition of the Michels' divisions is an important milestone in LYCON's growth. It enables the company to serve concrete pavers, commercial construction contractors and homeowners in the rapidly growing U.S. Highway 41 corridor, and the northern and western suburbs of Milwaukee. Job creation and population growth rates in these areas of Wisconsin are among the highest in the state, according to U.S. Census and local chamber of commerce data. LYCON's successful integration of the former Michels' divisions also allows the company to serve its existing customers in southern Wisconsin more efficiently.

"The completion of LYCON's expansion into one of the fastest-growing areas of the upper Midwest significantly enhances our ability to serve Wisconsin's construction community," said G.R. Lyons, executive vice president of LYCON. "We look forward to continuing the company's tradition of delivering the highest-quality products with the very best people as we work with new customers in the Fox River Valley and the Milwaukee suburbs. LYCON remains steadfast to serving our existing customers with the same commitment to great products and service that is the company's trademark."

In addition to the ready-mix operations LYCON acquired from Michels Corp., the recently completed integration also has enabled the company to enter Wisconsin's bulk mortar market. LYCON now manufactures and distributes "Mortar Technologies" mortars, which are laboratory-controlled mortars and grouts for masonry contractors. LYCON's new building products division, located in Slinger, Wis., offers the company's customers additional value by providing concrete- and masonry-related products and accessories.
