On March 25, the American Society of Civil Engineers released its 2025 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure. Overall, the country earned a “C,” which is the highest score ever. Individual sector grades ranged from “B” for ports to “D” for both stormwater and transit. Broadband was a new category this year and earned a “C+.” Overall, 16 out of 18 categories saw their grades rise or stay the same since the 2021 report card, with only energy and rail seeing a drop. ASCE points to federal investments, such as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, for the overall positive impact in many of the sectors and encourages more sustained investment.
Below, Endeavor Business Media infrastructure brands, which cover 12 of the 18 categories, break down the grades by sector. More reporting will come in the following weeks that explores where the infrastructure sectors go from here. While there was improvement, there is work to be done.
