Feb. 19, 2024
Project set to cause closures until early summer
A massive road construction project that in cludes a large portion of McKnight Road in the North Hills of Pittsburgh begins this week, and is set to cause traffic delays in the months to come.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced the road work will close a single lane of travel for 4 and a half miles on McKnight from the Babcock Boulevard/Evergreen Road interchange in Ross to Perrymont Road in McCandless from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day.
The work is part of a $25.5 million improvement project that will also see bridge preservation; paving; guide rail, signal and ramp upgrades; water line replacement and more.
Though single-lane restrictions are expected through early summer, the entirety of the project will take until spring 2025 to complete.
