The city of Burton, Mich. is preparing for several road improvement projects following recent approvals by the city council. The projects, totaling approximately $437,000, will address key roadways and enhance overall infrastructure.
A significant portion of North Genesee Road, stretching from Davison Road to the city limits, is slated for rehabilitation. The council approved $154,000 for a contract with the Michigan Department of Transportation to support the project.
The upgrades will include concrete pavement rubblization, joint and crack repairs, hot mix asphalt resurfacing, aggregate shoulders, permanent signage and new pavement markings. The total project cost is estimated at $77,000, with $617,000 secured through Federal Highway Service funds.
In anticipation of fall construction, the council also approved $85,000 for engineering services related to the rehabilitation of North Grand Traverse Road, spanning from Bristol to Hemphill roads. ROWE Professional Services will oversee the project, which is expected to cost $751,000. Construction is set to begin between August and November.
Additionally, $197,000 was allocated to the city’s pavement marking program. Work will occur in two phases: local road striping in May, followed by city road striping in September.
Officials said these projects signify the city’s commitment to improving road conditions and ensuring safer travel for residents and visitors alike.
