R.M. Young company announced a new weather sensor that has been designed to be an all-in-one weather station. Users will be able to access the internal weather sensors and filter for quick maintenance on the ResponseONE-PRO.
Users will be able to gather wind speed and direction, temperature, humidity and pressure from a single source. The sensors measure atmospheric variables and transmit them as a single output string.
This comes at a time when extreme weather has been affecting the construction industry.
In 2023, President Joe Biden announced plans to protect workers and communities from the rising temperatures that swept across the United States.
"The number 1 weather-related killer is heat. Six hundred people die annually from its effects — more than from floods, hurricanes and tornadoes in America combined," President Biden said.
This past summer, heatwaves struck parts of the Northeast. Caribou, Maine hit a record 103 degrees while 15 other states were under heat wave advisories.
While some of the country saw extreme heat, other parts saw temperatures dropping. Parts of Montana and Idaho were under a winter storm warning. Temperatures fell to 45 degrees in Great Falls, Mont.
Southern California saw a prolonged stretch of record-breaking heat that sparked wildfires. The National Weather Service issued its earliest snow advisory in the past 20 years for portions of the Sierra Nevada. The cooldown will provide some relief for residents in Southern California.
