Bridge Conditions
According to the latest FHWA data, Indiana's overall bridge conditions are fairly positive. 5.7% of state bridges are considered to be in poor condition, 53.5% are in fair condition, and 40.8% are considered to be in good shape, ranking the state as 30th in the nation according to the American Road Transportation Builders Association's deficiency rank (which takes into account the District of Columbia, as well as Puerto Rico).
There are 19,327 bridges in the state, comprising 8,261,745 sq meters of overall bridge deck area.
