L.A. County Metro breaks ground on light-rail extension

The 12.3-mile extension of the Metro Gold Line will have six stations
Officials held a ceremonial groundbreaking for the latest expansion of Los Angeles County's growing light-rail commuter system.
Over the weekend, the event at Citrus College in Glendora, Calif., celebrated the work commencing on a $1.5 billion, 12.3-mile extension of the Metro Gold Line from Azusa in the eastern San Gabriel Valley to Montclair in western San Bernardino County. The extension will have six stations.
Metro Rail currently has four light-rail and two subway lines, with more than 100 miles of service and 93 stations.
Other big projects underway include a downtown Los Angeles connector to allow rides across the system without changing trains, a subway extension and a light-rail line extension near Los Angeles International Airport.
