Summary
Increased road safety is the goal of every Department of Transportation and local agency. Currently, agencies and Departments of Transportation send crews to manually inspect roads and account for assets, a burdensome, inefficient, and costly process. By harnessing visual roadway imagery from existing dash cameras already in hundreds of thousands of cars, and the power of artificial intelligence to accurately analyze the images and provide actionable insights directly to those who need it most, agencies can spend more time proactively addressing issues before they become larger problems. This kind of technology can revolutionize the way we think about maintenance and management of our infrastructure, especially as autonomous vehicles are becoming more prevalent, and putting additional requirements on the condition of roadway assets.
