ADOT advised that drivers be alert and safe while using the new stretch of the Black Canyon Freeway

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) have finished fixing the pavement on Interstate 17 from Dunlap Road to Deer Valley Road. Construction on the interstate began in summer of 2022.

According to a news release from ADOT, the project extended and repaired pavement in addition to enhancing road safety on I-17.

The construction included the replacement of pavement markings, repairs to bridge deck pavements, installation of crack sealant, new metal expansion joints on freeway bridges, and the application of new lane striping and pavement markings.

ADOT used the Diamond grinding technique on the project, where the pavement is smoothened and preserved, using more durable products than rubberized asphalt, allowing an easier ride for drivers.

ADOT said now that the project is completed, the freeway is done with the road closures needed for construction.

ADOT advised that drivers be alert and safe while using the new stretch of the Black Canyon Freeway.

The project had a price tag of $445.9 million.
