Texas DOT Close Highway Lanes for 1604 Expansion

Jan. 2, 2024
These closures are part of a $1.4 billion overhaul of Loop 1604

Started Jan. 2, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will be closing lanes in preparation for the first phase of the Loop 1604 Expansion that they hope to get done this year.

Motorists should expect lane closures from Banderra Road to the intersection with Interstate 10.

Beginning Tuesday, Jan 2. and going until Monday, Jan. 8, there will be alternating lane closures in both directions of I-10.

The closures will allow consttruction crews to build the new connector bridges which will make highway transfers quicker and more direct.

Starting at 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, and ending at 5 a.m. on Jan. 8, both the northbound and southbound lanes where Vance Jackson meets Loop 1604 will be closed. Following the same schedule, the westbound right lane on Loop 1604 will be closed from Lockhill Selma Road to the I-10 exit ramp while steel girders are installed; further, the westbound entrance ramp onto Loop 1604 from Lockhill Selma will be closed.

These closures are part of a $1.4 billion overhaul of Loop 1604 which is expected to reduce congestion by nearly 80% when it’s done.
