Madison confirmed by Senate committee to lead FHWA

President Bush’s nominee to take over as administrator of the Federal Highway Administration has been confirmed by the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. Thomas J. Madison Jr. breezed through the confirmation hearing on July 30, the Watertown (N.Y.) Daily Times reported. Madison said his main task if confirmed by the full Senate would be to work with Congress to generate funds to repair the country’s transportation infrastructure.

Madison was previously commissioner of the New York State Department of Transportation and deputy secretary for transportation under Gov. George Patacki.
